DOTA: Amartnt and Anthraxx join Clan Razer.Int

"Ever since Jesper "Miracle" Nyhlén left Razer.Int for Fnatic and Levent "Levent" Isyapar became inactive, Razer.Int are down to 3 people. Rene "Kebap" Werner was rumored to be joining up Razer.Int but his retiremnet from competetive DOTA has ruled out that possibility.

Now, Kuro Salehi "Kuroky" Takhasomi has come out and said the Pakistani duo of Amar "amartnt" Hassan and Mustafa "Anthraxx" Khan will be standing in for Razer.Int today for their match against the Polish team, UCP. While AmarTnT was member of team Apteka, Anthraxx is a relative unknown.

While both have had success with team Tornado Walay locally, we'll see how they hold up against stiffer competition as well as having to play with high pings. This should not be a problem for amartnt for too long as he will return to England soon but Anthraxx will have to fight through delay problems in game.

It is not known if Razer.Int will pick up these 2 players permanently. Anybody interested to know a little more about these 2 during their time with Tornado Walay can read about their interviews "

Way to go amartnt and Anthraxx. Best of luck with your European expereience. Make us proud.

Team “Metal” interview with Saqib (“Boom”) after the 2009 Call of Duty 4 glorious win!

Date team founded: Around four years back
Team Achievements:

2008 MBL Online TDM Tournament (Attained 1st Position)

2008 World Cyber Games WCG Pakistan (Attained 1st Position)

2008 50 Consecutive Wins (Achievement Unlocked)

2008 Wateen Online Tournament (Attained 1st Position)

2009 DJuice Lan Clan Tournament in Islamabad (Attained 1st Position)

2009 Djuice National Gaming Championship 2009 (Attained 1st Position)

1. Would u like to tell a little about yourself, and a little about your team members?

Greetings to whoever is reading this, my name is Saqib Mansoor and I go by the nick of BOOM. I’m currently am doing a degree in Telecommunications and am well into my last semester. Like me, the rest of my team mates are students too but we all find some time to play and practice. I know relaying stuff about my team members will actually bore you so I’m going to keep this one short.

2. How was the team formed?

The team was formed way back in the days of Call Of Duty 2 and it was formed online. With the start of Call Of Duty 4, the clan started recruiting the cream of the online community and hence we are where we stand.

3. Who are the Metal starters and their role in the team?

Our current team lineup consists of the following:

BASH: Sniper/Recon He is the eyes and ears of our team, making him a vital asset for us. Probably the best scoper in our country for Call Of Duty 4, he has always delivered in game.

BOOM: Assaulter/Strat Caller I'm usually the second one who rushes in. My other role in the team is pretty simple and yet the most difficult. Based on our sniper's recon I have to call out strats for the team.

JINGO: Assaulter He loves playing mind games on the battlefield and opts for a psychological warfare instead of a modern one.

LZ-1: Rusher Probably the best player in our country at this moment. Anyone who has played against him will know how he is a ticking time bomb at the start of each round. Defuse him or get blown away.

PHANTOM-X: Rusher He paves the way to the bombsite, will always be on the front lines in an attempt to break the opponent’s rush.

PLAGUE: Rusher He fails to understand the meaning of fear. He will keep on moving forward, mowing down enemy lines and doing it with a laugh.

RIP: Flanker His smile speaks louder than words. Calm under pressure, you can be certain of one thing. If he is alive then may the other team rest in pieces.

4. What has been your best experience with the team so far? Just being a part of this amazing team can best count for a great experience.

5. We know your team compromises of top tier players, but who do you think is the key player for your team?

Each player of ours is an important part of the team and no one is considered superior in terms of gameplay. However, I would say that our most valuable player would be “Jingo”. We all have the highest of respect for him and with him in the team our morale is further boosted ten folds. I know this that if for some reason Jingo leaves; it will be a disaster for the team.

6. How do u rate your team, not only in terms of individual skills but also the team chemistry and motivation?

There are hundreds of players out there with amazing individual skills. But individual skills don’t win you matches. These are team based games and a good team with excellent coordination can run rings around a team full of superior players but with zero chemistry.

As for speaking for my team I can’t say that our chemistry is excellent. We still do blunders here and there but we learn from them. That’s what’s important; we learn from our mistakes and hence make our team stronger.

7. Do you think cyber games in Pakistan can go at par with international standards, what recommendations do you have for Pakistani gamers and tourney organizers?

It all comes down to practice, about facing challenges, the harder the challenge the more the practice. That’s the way the world grows. We practice daily on a public server with 30 people, which is more like perfecting your aim and reflexes. Whereas it’s a totally different story when it comes to clan wars. We need to promote the game to get more clans and more challengers, that’s the way standards rise.

Currently in Pakistan there are a handful of good teams, this accounts for limited competition. We hence have to turn to foreign online teams. Many of the better teams refuse to play with us because of our high latencies. However, we did manage to play against some of them. We won some and we lost some, but considering that we were playing with a 200-300 ping against 20-30 pingers we lost with a margin of 2-3 rounds. I’m sure if it were on lan or we had the same ping, things might have been different.
Off course it’s even stupid to say that we can match against the top teams of Europe like fnatic and dignitas. But I’m sure that if given a chance we can at least beat some of the teams at the lower rungs of the ladder.
Everything comes down to opportunity. This is also a great way to promote the game. Currently the online crowd for Call Of Duty 4 is becoming huge with each day. If organizers would just give teams an opportunity to go abroad to prove their worth, this just might in turn prove to be a great thing for us gamers.

8. Does Metal team play regularly plays with International Clans and Players online? if so what difference do you see in local and international games?

As I said earlier, it’s near impossible for us to be playing online with international clans. Reason being that Pakistan is situated on the other side of the globe. We get high latencies whereas you get a good ping if you’re either in Europe or America. That’s why their game is so top notch. Hundreds of top class teams sit on MIRC asking other teams for matches. They have huge competition and each day they practice amongst themselves.

There is a huge gap between us local and them international gamers. But it’s not a gap that cannot be closed up. Remember, you only get better if you play against teams better than you, regardless if u win or loose. Since we can’t practice against them online, teams should be regularly sent abroad to face off against the best on LAN. That’s the only way through which we can, at least try, to close the gap between us and them.

9. What do you think of the Djuice national gaming championship? How did you like it and what would you like to recommend?

The Djuice national gaming championship was a great experience. Teams from all over the country were united under one roof. Putting aside the heat of competition, we got to meet other teams and in turn it turned out to be a very healthy gathering. My recommendation to Djuice would be to just learn from this experience and make it better next year. This was a first time for them to be hosting such a big scale event. I’m sure it will turn out even better next year.

Would u like to tell a little about yourself, and a little about your team members?
AT:
Hello I’m Asad Imran a.k.a AT which stands for AlighTorque. I have done computer systems engineering from NUST and after that I worked in a German Company for 2 years. Right now I’m looking forward to my masters (MBA) most probably from USA provided I get visa otherwise will be starting a new job in the petroleum industry.

Warlord Craft:
yo ...!! I’m Shoaib Hadeed (warlord). im currently in beaconhouse national uni getting my bachelors degree in arts and design. After I’m done with my degree.. Mb I go for masters to US...

Amartnt:
Hi I’m Amar Hassan (aka amartnt). I’m doing my bachelors from Sussex uni in England. I’ve been playing dota since the map came out and i shifted to this game from Mohaa. i do most of the calling in game and you could say that I’m the guy that tries to make these guys who are by far the best individual players in Pakistan play and perform well as a team. Other than that AT is vigoss and vigoss is AT

SK
Hello... Salman here (SK-)... i am currently doing my BBA from Nust Isb-(2nd year)... and yeah that’s just about it!!

How was the team formed
Well we were a group of gamers who used to play together in Tornado Gaming Cafe Islamabad. With the passage of time we decided to form a team comprising of the best players of that time. Only me, amartnt & ahmed (lpc) are still playing for tw from that group of players.

Who are the TW starters and their role in the team?
Our Current lineup is Amartnt, Anthraxx, SK, Warlord Craft & AT/Ahmed Sultan. I’ll not be playing for the team in future for any LAN events since I have to focus more on my career but will try to stick around with team for online scrims provided I get time.
As far as roles are concerned

Amartnt = Mid Solo/Ganker/Intelligence Hero with any role.
Anthraxx = Carry/Side Carry/Solo
SK = Ricer Carry/Side Support/
Warlord Craft = Ganker/Support
AT/Ahmed = Ganker/Initiator/Side Carry

What has been your best experience with the team so far?
It's hard to single out 1 tournament; we've enjoyed almost every tournament we've participated in.. But if I had to chose 1, it would be this latest djuice tournament. a lot of people had talked a lot before the tourney had started. We had a couple of tough matches and everyone wanted us to lose. we fought back from a situation where most teams would have given up. we rose from there, and showed the country why we deserved to win the tournament.
Our victory against team Error from India in SAKT Final was also very satisfying because over there our country’s pride on stake.

We know your team is composed of top tier players in competitive DOTA but who do you feel is the key player in team TW whose presence seems to be quite motivating?
Well our team has always been composed of many stars but over the years first it was amartnt as the main star player and now days its Anthraxx along with amartnt as the star players. But we won the recent Djuice Championship in Karachi without Anthraxx (all the best teams from Pakistan were present in that tournament). So this basically justifies my point that TW is not dependent on 1 or 2 players.

Which teams in the competitive scene at the moment you think pose some threat to TW?
At the moment I think U5 is the biggest threat as they were in the final of Djuice Championship.

• How do u rate your team, not only in terms of individual skills but also the team chemistry and motivation?
At the moment, individually we are the best in Pakistan in every role. Motivation level is also pretty good but as far as team chemistry is concerned sometimes it’s almost perfect when we are owning our opponents but at other times under pressure situation I do feel we need to improve.

Do you think cyber games in Pakistan can go at par with international standards, what recommendations do you have for Pakistani gamers and tourney organizers.
Cyber gamers in Pakistan are not given the recognition that they deserve. This is probably because there are not many sponsors who are willing to put in the funds required for the e-sports industry to flourish. The tournament organizers should try to look at LAN events that are held in Singapore, Malaysia and china and maybe learn a thing or two from there. And as the number of gamers increases, hopefully the sponsors will start to come in as well e.g. Djuice has already shown an interest in the industry..

TW regularly plays with International Clans and Players, what difference do you see in local and international games?
Yes most of us play with international players and have played and beaten almost all the good European teams (who are considered the best in the world). There are some differences that we've seen, the major one is that in Pakistan a lot of emphasis is put on farming where is internationally the game is a lot more gank oriented. Other than that we feel that Pakistan has a lot of talented players who can compete on the top most level

Upcoming leagues or tournaments we cud see TW in action?
We are not playing any online leagues or tournaments any time soon. They take way too long to finish and the prizes promised are rarely given. Other than that we would like to participate in any good lan tournament with a nice prize money.

1st @ Djuice National Gaming Championship 2009.

1. Would u like to tell a little about yourself, and a little about your team members?

HI, I'm Omar, I'm known as Shaggy, i have a passion for video games specially counter-strike, and am always looking forward to promoting counter-strike in Pakistan. we have 6 members, all of us have known each other for years they comprise of the following players Captain "SHAGGY" Choudhry Omar Saghir - Assault - Sniper ( Both ) Active "Faint" Mohammad Yaqoob Khero - Assault ( Active )"Becks" Syed Ghazal Ahmed - Assault ( Active )"Uka"Umair Kamran Ansari - Assault ( Active )"Heaton" Owais Ali - Assault ( Active ) "Deadly_evil" Khummar Imdad - Sniper (Inactive) "Dre" Agha Shahbaz Durrani - Assault - Sniper ( Both ) (Inactive)

2. How was the team formed?

Incredibles was formed in the year 2003 to compete in Counter-Strike at the professional level. Like most teams, the early years were spent mostly developing our techniques and strategies. After years of practice and a few roster changes, Incredible has become one of the best Counter Strike team here in Pakistan. Winning Events like WCG (World Cyber Games) ESWC ( Electronic Sports World Cup ) National Finals here in Pakistan. After years of practice and a few roster changes, Incredibles become one of the best or you can even say the best Counter Strike team here in Pakistan. we were initially all friends and competitors against each other, and eventually deadly and shaggy decided to create -i- and got players they felt were the right fit for the team, it took a while before we got into the right coordination and mindset, but once there, we have been unstoppable.

3. Who are the -i- starters and their role in the team?

-i- SHAGGY = Has the most important role in our team, his All-Round skills and leading the team makes him best assist!

-i- Faint = Impressive in his skill for absolute accuracy, can take in on almost any role between backup or advancing

-i- uKa = highly skilled tactical player, provides sufficient backup to entry fraggers, trump card for our team . best for pressure situations.

-i- becKs = One of the teams leading assaulter, his role is to get entry frags!

-i- Tricky = Great for trying to cut the other team off from allies while giving teammates a safe line to move in.

-i- Heaton = Most calm and patient along with pin point accuracy.

4. What has been your best experience with the team so far?

Winning Major Events like WCG ESWC and Djuice National Championship in Pakistan have been one of the best experiences but when we won against International team Simplex from Macedonia in WCG Germany, Cologne in 2008 that was the moment i can never forget and hope to do better in future at International level.

5. We know your team compromises of top tier players, but who do you think is the key player for your team?

All the members in my team are the best u can find but the one i would rate as the top is Muhammad Yaqoob aka ( Faint ) without any doubt. Faint with his precision shooting accuracy that gives us the advantage. All the players in our team are capable of winning rounds in pressure situations.

6. How do u rate your team, not only in terms of individual skills but also the team chemistry and motivation?

We are more then just a team, our players friendships go way beyond being just teammates in the game. Its all a part of being more like a family then just a team, we are all great friends and hang out beyond just gaming. And I feel it’s what’s needed to be a great team, not only skill but true coordination from knowing one another. Our friendship allows us to trust in each other to do their job in a match, there couldn't be better chemistry if we tried

7. Do you think cyber games in Pakistan can go at par with international standards, what recommendations do you have for Pakistani gamers and tourney organizers?

I feel in the last couple of years Pakistan is definitely raising its standards to match international standards, with the help of visonary comapanies such as Wiredup and sponsors such as Telenor Djuice, Intel, Wateen, Wi-tribe and several media channels coming into this space to improve the standard of gaming. This has given rise to a lot of positive awareness in general and having more frequent tournaments will automatically raise the level of play as they get challenged to perform. If we haven't already then soon we will be matching international standards. For the gamers, Practice makes perfect, the better your coordination with your teammates, the better the results you can achieve. As for the tourney organizers I have to point out the advertising and attention DJUICE Lan Clan has given gaming is sensational and Wiredup by giving opportunities to gaming arenas to come on one platform and work together has bought the best of the best out. The other tourney organizers should take this tournament into account when planning their own future events..

8. -i- regularly plays with International Clans and Players, what difference do you see in local and international games?

I feel local gamers don't spend enough time and effort like we do to be able to compete at our level, watching demos, reading playbooks, and the want to be Better. -i- strives to try and compete with international players and are constantly evolving our game play to raise our standards. In my opinion its just a matter of time, given enough international exposure -i- will excel more in the international tournaments and In International games you can not make a mistake and get away with it because all teams are best from their respective regions and top level players who play throughout the year at a very high level whereas locally players cant excel because they cant practice with better players of different regions due to the lack of high speed internet services required for online gaming here in Pakistan as International teams benefit alot cause they play against top clans of different countries online.

9. What do you think of the Djuice national gaming championship? How did you like it and what would you like to recommend?

Djuice National Gaming Championship was a great event as for the 1st time such an event happened in Pakistan at the National Level.Teams and players came from Lhr, isb, faislabad, multan, bhp, Qta and Ryk.The hype and the interest among the gaming community to be part of this event was something to be admired. In the past when WCG and ESWC has taken place there has been participation of around 140 counter strike teams and 30 Dota teams. That number almost doubled in Djuice Nationals and that was great to see as there was participation of more than 270 Counter Strike teams and 130 Dota teams that participated. There should be more events at National Level rather than waiting for International Events like ESWC and WCG that happen once a year. There were monthly tournaments and city level leagues that took place at various gaming arenas which was great to see as alot of prizes wer provided by Djuice for the winners. Thanks Djuice and Wiredup to give Gamers such opportunities.

Thanku Shaggy for your time :)

The game itself was a very much one sided affair with TW dominating from the start.Along with AT, Anthrax for me was the star of the show till he got disconnected. The match turned in to a comic affair towards the end where U5 players started backdooring for fun. CrispatoCat was making TW chase his Naix all over the map by 'infesting' scourge creeps.
